Domaine Daniel Dugois Trousseau Grevillière(Jura) |13.5%| 2019
Region: Jura , France Style: Rich , Fully Bodied Grape: Trousseau |
he domaine was founded by Daniel in 1973 and is situated at the heart of the 'golden triangle' of the Jura - between Arbois, Salins-les-Bains and Poligny - in the village of Arsures, 5km from Arbois itself. There are 9 hectares of vines in total - all tended according to the semi-organic method of 'lutte raisonée' - and the soil is composed mainly of clay, marl and gravel - perfectly suited to the cultivation of the Trousseau grape of which Daniel is a specialist. Today, Daniel is assisted by his son, Philippe, who produced his first vintage in 2003. This elegant red is 100% Trousseau from 60 year-old vines and pairs well with hearty stews or vegetable dishes.
A deep garnet in colour with an expressive bouquet of Morello cherry, spices and blackberry. The palate is delicate with beautifully balanced tannins leading to a lengthy finish with a hint of pine sap. Great with blanquette de veau, venison stew with juniper berries and cream or potato cake Savoyard with bacon, prunes and raisins.
Critic tasting note: "So smooth, the wine is like velvet. It has a spicy edge along with mint flavors from two years in wood. Dense black fruits and a backdrop of acidity are impressive and will propel the wine forward. Drink from 2024. Roger Voss" - 90/100, Wine Enthusiast
